How to add a Reservation fee
Why Charge a Reservation Fee?
A reservation fee is a smart way to make extra money and cover some of your costs. Here's why it's a good idea:
- It helps pay for the work of taking bookings
- It can reduce no-shows and last-minute cancellations
- It can help pay for your OpenCampground subscription
- It adds a little extra money to your business
How to Set Up a Reservation Fee:
- Go to Settings
- Click on Extras
- Add a New Extra
- Click the "Add New Extra" button
- Name It
- Type "Reservation Fee" in the Name box
- Make It Show Online
- Check the box that says "Online Display"
- Choose the Fee Type
- Click the "Standard" button
- Set the Fee Amount ( We recommend a minimum fee of $2.00)
- Decide how much to charge for:
- Daily stays
- Weekly stays
- Monthly stays
- You could charge different amounts for each (like $3 for daily, $2 for weekly)
- Save It
- Click "Save" or "Create Extra"
- Check It Works
- Try making a booking to make sure the fee shows up right
Tips:
- Be clear about the fee when you talk about prices
- Think about not charging the fee for special guests or during sales
- Check every so often to see if you need to change the fee
Remember, while the fee can help you make money, make sure it's fair so your guests don't get upset. A good reservation fee can help your business run better and make more money.
