How to Set Up Your Terminal Device- Priority Payments only

This article explains how to set up your payment terminal device. This process requires contacting Priority Payments support directly, as they will guide you through the proper configuration steps.

Important Note

This setup process only applies to merchants using Priority Payments as their payment processor. If you use a different payment processor, please contact them directly for terminal setup instructions.

Setup Process for TSYS MIDs (Majority of Merchants)

Most Priority Payments merchants use TSYS MIDs (Merchant IDs). If this applies to you, follow these steps:

  1. Gather Your Information
    • Locate your Merchant ID number
    • If you don't have your Merchant ID:
      • Contact our support team for assistance, OR
      • If you have access to MXMerchant, you can find your Merchant ID in your account details
  2. Contact Priority Payments Support
    • Call 855-813-5293
    • Inform the representative that you need to set up your terminal device
    • Provide your Merchant ID when requested
  3. Verification Process
    • The support agent will verify your identity by asking several security questions about your account
    • Answer all questions accurately to proceed with setup
  4. Guided Setup
    • The support agent will walk you through the terminal setup process step by step
    • They will help you configure the terminal to work with OpenCampground
    • They will guide you through performing a test transaction
    • They can answer any additional questions about terminal operation

Setup Process for First Data Merchants

If you are using Priority Payments with a First Data MID:

  1. Contact First Data Support
    • Call 800-935-5961
    • Inform the representative that you need to set up your terminal device
    • Have your Merchant ID ready
  2. Follow Their Instructions
    • The First Data support team will guide you through the setup process specific to their system

Troubleshooting

Terminal Not Connecting

If your terminal fails to connect after setup:

  • Verify your internet or phone line connection
  • Ensure the terminal is powered on
  • Contact Priority Payments support for assistance

Transaction Issues

If you experience problems processing transactions after setup:

  • Try restarting your terminal
  • Verify your Merchant ID was correctly entered during setup
  • Contact Priority Payments support for troubleshooting
  • If you receive this error "The system cannot connect to your POS terminal. This can be due to the POS terminal being offline, or because you do not have a merchant account configured with one of our card processors. Please use an alternate payment method.". Please ensure that the terminal is online, and you have a merchant account on file.
