Setting Up Required Deposits for Online Bookings
What Is a Deposit?
A deposit is money that guests must pay when they make their reservation. It's listed as a separate charge in their booking details. We recommend that you make all deposits required for online reservations.
Setting Up Your Deposit
Follow these simple steps to create a required deposit:
- Go to Settings
- Click on "Extras"
- Click to create a new Extra
- Enter a name (like "Booking Deposit" or "Security Deposit")
- Check these important boxes:
- "Online Display" (so guests can see it)
- "Online Required" (makes the deposit mandatory)
- "Deposit" (marks this as a deposit payment)
- Enter your deposit amount
How It Works
After setup, here's what happens:
- Guests will see the deposit amount during booking
- The deposit appears as a separate line item in their Booking Details
- Guests must pay the deposit to complete their online reservation
- You can track deposits in your booking management system

Good to Know
- Deposits help prevent no-shows
- You can change the deposit amount anytime
- The deposit will apply to all online bookings
- You can see deposit payments in your booking reports
