Setting Up Required Deposits for Online Bookings

What Is a Deposit?

A deposit is money that guests must pay when they make their reservation. It's listed as a separate charge in their booking details. We recommend that you make all deposits required for online reservations.

Setting Up Your Deposit

Follow these simple steps to create a required deposit:

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Click on "Extras"
  3. Click to create a new Extra
  4. Enter a name (like "Booking Deposit" or "Security Deposit")
  5. Check these important boxes:
    • "Online Display" (so guests can see it)
    • "Online Required" (makes the deposit mandatory)
    • "Deposit" (marks this as a deposit payment)
  6. Enter your deposit amount

How It Works

After setup, here's what happens:

  • Guests will see the deposit amount during booking
  • The deposit appears as a separate line item in their Booking Details
  • Guests must pay the deposit to complete their online reservation
  • You can track deposits in your booking management system
