Understanding Transactions

In OpenCampground, a transaction refers to a financial operation or payment activity associated with a reservation. Transactions are distinct from reservations themselves, as a single reservation can have multiple transactions linked to it.

The key difference between a reservation and a transaction is:

  • Reservation: A reservation represents the booking details, such as dates, site/unit, guests, and any additional services or amenities requested.
  • Transaction: A transaction is a record of a payment made or a financial activity related to a specific reservation. This could include the initial payment for the reservation, additional charges (e.g., extras or fees), refunds, or any other monetary exchange.

Transactions provide a detailed record of the financial activities associated with a reservation, allowing you to track payments, refunds, and other monetary transactions separately from the reservation details.
